USS 2020.png

While USS is “on hold” for the foreseeable future, we want to assure you that the committee is determined that USS will rise again just as soon as it is deemed safe to do so.  Our producers are waiting in the wings to get back to producing and selling, however your health, and safety, is paramount in our thinking that now is not the right time to resume.  We too miss the bustle of busy Saturday mornings, meeting neighbours, catching up with village news, and having a social chat over coffee in the cafe area.  But we will all have to be patient!  The day will come when we can open the doors of the village hall and welcome you back, but sadly that time is still a little way off.  In the meantime if you would like to get in touch with any of our producers we are happy to facilitate this.  Please contact us here if you would like to be put in contact with the producers.

August Update
USS has been running successfully in the Village Hall every other Saturday throughout the year for more than 6 years. Due to the pandemic we are unsure when we can reopen. The Committee is considering several options and believes now is the time to plan the relaunch.
Following the success of Shelley’s Veg Stall and the current Plant Swop on Saturdays it would be great to tap into the huge resource of community spirited residents of Ugborough who could contribute some new ideas and help restart this valued village resource.
We would like to incorporate some new ideas without losing the core aims of USS, which are to:
• provide a place to buy locally produced food and services
• continue the very popular coffee and bacon butty cafe
• bring together producers in the local area
• keep shopping miles to a minimum and promote local products
• encourage new producers and cooks
USS is currently run by a Committee of 4 and a team of volunteers who help set up the village hall. It is not an onerous undertaking but it does require some regular commitment. Would you be willing to help? Would you like to join the committee? Could you bring new ideas and help revitalise this vital village resource? What would make USS relevant to you and your family?
If you would like to get involved we would LOVE to hear from you. Or if you would just like a chat about how USS operates and the kind of help that is needed, do get in touch.
