| South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty has just launched a photographic competition to mark its 50th anniversary. |

Amateur photographers are being invited to enter the competition showing why they think the area is so special.
There are three themed categories in which to enter
- Classic Landscape: an image that captures the beauty and variety of the South Devon AONB and its relevance to the photographer
- Settlements and villages: an image which demonstrates what is characteristic and distinguishable about buildings in the South Devon AONB
- Living the View: an image showing people working or playing in the AONB and the importance of the AONB community.
Each section has an under-16 age group.
The overall prize winner will receive a pair of balloon flights sponsored by Virgin Balloon Flights, operated locally by Richard Prowse of Ugborough, and a framed art print of the image sponsored by King Print in Kingsbridge. The best under-16 entry will receive a Kodak ‘Easy share’ camera courtesy of Totnes Photographic and all the category winners will receive a 12x16 art print of their entry.
A panel of three judges chaired by Roy Sims from Modbury will shortlist the entries. They will appear in the local press and in a special on-line winner’s gallery where the public will vote for their favourites. All of the winners and runners up will be exhibited at Harbour House in Kingsbridge from 6th – 18th July 2010. Photos may also be used for AONB publications.
The ’50 Outstanding Years’ Programme is supported by the Lottery Fund and the photographic competition is part of the ‘lets celebrate’ theme of activities.
