Gary Streeter had a meeting with the Regional Manager of BT in this area regarding the roll out of superfast Broadband and discussed the Ugborough situation with him specifically.

The Regional Managers advice is to try and whip up as much support as possible for the Ugborough street cabinet to be added to the live roll out of superfast Broadband by encouraging pre-registration of businesses and individuals interested in this facility as far as possible.

Apparently pre-registration is a very simple thing to do and more information can be found on the BT website, and Gary was led to understand that the more people who pre-register the more likely it is that the Ugborough system will be switched. (This also applies to other areas - eg Gara Bridge which serves some of the parish. Editor.)

I also spoke to BT direct and one of the reasons we had been left out was: "there are insufficient customers or potential customers to warrant a commercial upgrade at this point in time"

BT's rollout continues to 2015 and they review every cabinet for deployment every 3 months. It is possible they may return and “in-fill” the cabinet but they have no plans at present. However Devon was one of the second wave of counties who won BDUK funding so it is very possible that BDUK funding will be used to enable the cabinet over the next 2 years

The Parish Council may have dismissed High Speed services from BT however it is possible that BT will review the provision if enough people register an interest.
